So I spent some time rebuilding the door cards today. Couple of the magazine holders where loose and there were a couple rattles.

Got very lucky, only one broken clip, but I didn't bother changing it. Not yet anyways.

This was my basic method:

Here are a few pics, I know us fanatics feed off pics.

FFFFF... They cut the stock plug off for aftermarket tweeters :argh:

A couple dates:
First the production date of the card, drivers side is 31 Aug 1996.

Confirmation of the car build date 9/10/1996.

Lower the suspension a bit......

MSport suspension is low enough for me (25mm lower than stock if I remember correctly). And definitely cant have my daily driver lower than that.

So over this weekend I decided to do a repair on my diffuser because it will be quite a few months before I have money to replace it.

Here is what it looked like:

So I bought some of this and got started:

Here is the filler applied. (The hole is backed with a small metal plate that I glued in from the back so the putty has something to stick to):

As it turns out I used waaaaaayyyy too much putty, and it took me more than three hours to sand.
This is the sanding result:

After priming and painting. (Stupidly, it didnt occur to me to get a filler primer to help with the scratches caused by the initial rough sanding):

I am happy with the final result, if it wasnt for the sanding marks it would look like it was never even broken. looks much better than it did. If it lasts I will sell it cheaply when I eventually buy a new one. May also give it a very light coat of matte black because the semi-gloss I used is slightly too shiny.

if you finish it off better there will be no point in getting a new one :)

True. But I would rather get a new one. Will sell this one on the forum when I buy a new one.

I will need to buy filler primer to do it properly. The scratches are in the plastic so will need to be filled to avoid ending up with a low spot.

Just finish that one off properly G. Save yourself a lot of money, and take the amount of pride that goes with a DIY as a free, extra bonus.

Go on. Do it. You know you want too.

You can just get a small tin of spot puty, and finish it off nicely. Apply it thinly, and evenly, and you will end up with minimal amount of sanding.

Stop appealing to my DIY side... My finger tips are sick of sandpaper

On a serious note, I do want to finish the job but I hate knowing that even though it is fixed, it was broken which is why I want to replace it (I'm a strange person I know). But I'll see when I get there. Plenty still left on my list.
