What are your opinions on the best suspension setup for an e36? no coilovers only shock and spring setups, something that handles nice, gives nice stance (about 40mm or so drop) something that doesn't kill the driveability yet ads stability, please share your opinions and experience

Bilstein Shocks B6 or B8 + H/R Springs.

This is the setup I have been considering the longest, how do you find the ride quality? how many K's have you put on this setup?

Bilstein shocks and H&R springs is the combo I used, flipping amazing and out classes the E46 Msport suspension by miles. I believe using Eibach springs also delivers good results. note however that this setup costs slightly more than a budget coil over setup but definitely handles and feels better.

For how long have you had this setup? what is the ride height like? pics?

And also, where did you get this strut and spring setup from and how much did it cost you?
