E36 325i - help needed

Guys, please help.

I recently sorted out the little o-rings in the vanos of my 325i E36. Everything is working very well after that, but the spark plug sealing rings are leaking like mad. From the manual I used to do this they said that no rtv sealent should be used for this rings. I dont really want to use rtv anyway. Does anybody have some advice??

Also, I am looking for a bit bigger throttle body and some new injectors. Do you think I will gain power through this, having already done branches and exhaust and a little flow of the outlet. With a chip to manage fueling etc, do you guys think it is worth tampering with injectors and throttle??

Please give some ideas.
Thanx
CJ

If oil is getting into the spark plug chambers then the rocker cover gasket (valve cover gasket) needs to be changed as far as I know.

Hi

I changed the valve cover gasket when I fixed the vanos, v c g is sitting just fine. But oil is pushed through the sealing rings on the inside of the sparkplug chambers. Maybe I installed the sealing rings like my butt, or maybe there is a spesific spec on the sealing rings, maybe I didnt torque the valve cover enough, or maybe it cant be done without rtv sealant?? I must add that the sealing rings that I put in, wasnt genuine?! Please give some thoughts.

Wow... you installed your own butt?

How much did you torque the valve cover to? I think it's supposed to be 12Nm... or was it 8Nm...

I wouldn't be able to help you further than that as I am an even bigger noob when it comes to these things.

I've changed many a rocker cover gasket-you need to torque it down to 10nm-I found that sometimes the new spark plug sealing rings can be slightly misplaced when putting the cover back on which allows oil to leak through,You could try doing it again.I'll dig up a diy which shows you were to put gasket sealant as it will explain it better than I can

What throttle body you looking at getting?A friend tried 328 injectors on his to get more out of it but ended way overfueling so ended up taking them off again

sry to ask this, but what little vanos seals are you talking about? Did you do the whole vanos seal kit? Mine needs to be done and would like some input. Thx

Its the o-ring inside the vanos unit, yes I did the whole seal kit. Pretty easy job. Car runs very smooth after that, well worth it.

Enjoy.

Thanx 4 the diy instructions, helps a lot. I will try it again. Was thinking just a little bigger throttle like a 70mm??! Not to sure about the injectors though, I was also thinking that maybe it will just overfuel?! What else did your friend do to his car with the injectors??

Thanx 4 your input.
