E36 320i Diff for sale and need bush to be replaced

Hi. My car, an e36 320I, was misdiagnosed as requiring the diff to be replaced. I did the job and bought a second hand diff for R2200 only to be told that the diff bush was the problem. I am now needing to sell the extra diff I had and have bought the bush but people want to charge an arm and a leg to replace it. Please let me know if anyone is interested in buying the diff. I have the receipt as well.

I understand that. But one guy says it a day job, the other 2 days, then another 3 hours. The place that put the diff in for me said its the same job, but when I went back the next week want to charge double.

It is more work than you previously asked them to do, thats why they want even more money now.. Because they have to strip and remove the diff again, now replace the bushings and then refit everything = Much more work than before.

The old bush's could give issues when removing it and refitting the new ones, this alone can/may take hours so no one can really say to you: "Yes sir, i can do everything and have your car back 100% in X hours" because, there are other gremlins that can surface when you start working on an old car and since all mechanics/workshops charge by the hour, they cannot give you a straight up price without even checking your car. stripped bolts, worn parts, ect can also delay the job or add additional costs..

Any honest mechanic will tell you all this upfront. I always make it known to customers from the onset and if they dont like it or are looking for cheap and quick labor, they must take their car to whoever fits their situation.

is it the front or rear diff bush, if its the front bush and you have a poly bush that you replacing it, it will take you less than 4 hours to do.

I did it on my red e36 while the diff was still in there and the tools I used was:

Ratchet
18mm or 16mm socket I forgot lol
Drill
Chisel
Hammer
Hacksaw

If you are replacing it I would suggest going poly as the rubber ones are shit and the poly ones are quick to install

I was told its the one that's between the diff and prop shaft. I already bought it at the agents. I just hope its the right one

Yip that the front diff bush, its on the subframe. I would honest cut my loses and get a poly one if you plan on keeping the car for sometime
