Hi Guys, Long time since I have been on here.
My brother has landed in shit, and has been using my Fiat palio. Someone drove into the back of it a few weeks ago and wrote it off. Insurance only paid out R24k.
I have bought a 1995 318i to replace it and on my way home from collecting it now, the timing chain just snapped at 6000rpm. There is a piece of metal sticking out of the chain housing.
Is this an interference engine (Please say no, but I suspect its a yes, based on the sounds that came from the motor)?
The car had 190k kms on the clock and while that may not be genuine, the condition of the car says to me that its not far off.
What parts, aside from the Chain and the valves should I expect to need replacing?
I have been driving a Diesel for the last five years, and the sound and feel of that motor just pulled me in. It was running so sweetly until it popped :blueCry:
