So I recently purchased a e36 316i and it needed some tlc

Got the project rolling to get the car back into shape again,

Small things needed for the car but I would say 90% there

One issue I came across is the fan only comes on when the car is stopped and switched off and it's runs for like 2-5 min and goes off

They had a temp switch wired to a pipe that connects to the thermostat pipe, and it was connected to direct power from the positive terminal and then to the electric fan.

I have removed the cooling system to clean and flush out everything but got a temp switch for the side of the radiator again. But also looking for the original 3 wire plug which I can't find.

I did find a similar plug loose close to the blower motor that has yellow wires on it but wires run to the fuse box

Any help with a layman's wiring diagram to find the wiring for the oem wiring?

There is x2 brown wires cut close to the temp switch by the radiator not sure if that's the right ones

Any help appreciated

Also I replaced the final stage end relay for the aircon / fan inside the car it makes a clicking sound and can here a crunching noise for a short period of time but no air coming through

Would I need to pull the blower motor out and clean it? Could it be clogged due to the age of the car and it standing or has it given up completely

Blower fixed, replaced thermostat sorted out the wiring fan still didn't kick in car didn't over heat though..

Thinking fan temp switch is bad or relays but with a jump wire the fun runs perfect from the temp switch plug

I thought my fan wasn't working so I unplugged the thermostat and the fan kicked in.
I checked temperature on the cluster (e90 hidden menu) and watched the temp while the car was idling and only at 107 degrees did the fan kick in. I flushed the system and replaced the coolant and the temp only reaches 105 now so the fan doesn't want to start.

This may or may not help you in this situation.

Thanks bud I have a e36 and I have stripped the entire cooling system and replaced thermostat and will be reaching the water pump,

Drove the car temp stays normal when driving not sure if the fan came on or not but on idle the temp gauge goes slight over half.

I know it's not the head gasket because the car when driving is fine. Only at idle it get abit hot

Tested everything last option is to replace water pump and radiator
