E34 touring scarcity ?

Hi guys.
During my hunt for an e34 i have not yet come across one touring version in my area
This is what I am actually looking for, not the sedan.

How many of these are there around, anyone know ?
overseas they seem popular.
Could anyone help me out here ?

Thanks if you can.
Cheers

I am just wondering what a 18 year old ( if I remember correctly) wants with a touring. Could it be the space in the back perhaps? Yeah, it must be the space in the back. You dawg you!

Hahahaha,
thats exactly the reason
I see a bmw touring as a bmw bakkie with a canopy.
I don't see why there are so few people attracted to these cars.

There are not many options out there. An e39 is too expensive and is there even an e36 touring in this country ?

Tell me what you guys know please !

I know of a forum member whose father drives a 525 touring.

Bud,

Some advice here, why dont you see if you cant squeeze an E39... You can find a nice example going for 50 to 70k, and if you put down a 20 or 30k deposit (which if memory serves you have), you should be able to finance it.

As much as I love the E34, they require maintance, unless you can find a really good well looked after one, few and far between...

As for the touring, i saw a E34 touring in a wreckers the other day... very rare...

Looks like your ins and outs are well known on the forum here, PE_ithm.

Ma father had a Cressida station wagon he bought new in 1991 and that was my start of the wagon passion. Spend many a night in the Cressida with all the seats folded down... :mmm: Being a BMW nut, the Touring is the logical choice.

There are a few (not many) e34 and e39 tourings floating around in Jhb and Pretoria.

You find them in all kinds of conditions --> Bad, OK, and spotless.

I must be honest, I love the BMW wagons. The e39 touring is the best looking wagon by far!

There was an E34 Touring for sale in Parow or somewhere a few months ago. There's also a rather spiffy looking white one in Mowbray, but I doubt that's for sale.

I have seen that white one around. It has the M stripes. Looks like they are stickers down each side.

Is the e34 a car that you can work on yourself more than the e39 ? I mean with all the diagnostics and computer stuff that advanced from the e34

Actually no,

The E34 is just as computerized as the E39, the E39 may have a few additional sensors and so forth, and the technology may be of a later version, but the basic design is pretty much the same.

However, the E39 is the far more common OBDII, also, there are a lot more spares available for the E39 then there is for the E34, and in the broader spectrum, on the E39 the parts are cheaper.

Really like the touring, especially the E36 touring.

the 5 series touring's with very scares in sa. and to get a manual one is also most impossible. BMW sa told me on the e39 every 100 touring that was sold maybe 2 was manual.
