E34 Micro filter

Seems that the micro filter in my 540 is to be blamed for the lack of air being pushed through the vents. Sounds obvious, but I can see broken plastic at the back of the dash if I push my head passed the pedals. Always figured something was broken with the system, but it now seems it might just be some cover. I'm guessing someone tried to get in there before :dunno:

Anyway. Is this something I can only get from the agents? Masterparts can get me one, but I'm not sure it's the right thing as it looks like it's one piece while the write ups on how to swap it out all show a 2 piece filter

Still need to find out from the agents what it costs though.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I had exact same thing, set aside an afternoon and we go to a scrapyard and get you one for ten bucks.

You will have to take the old broken cover off first so I can see as there are two kinds.

Would a Saterday morning not work? I'm in the process of looking for a new job and need to keep leave days for interviews.

From the write ups online it seems quite tricky to get the filter out passed the steering column and the pedals. I say pedals as the write ups were for auto's, but I has a clutch pedal.

I should have tried to pull the old filter yesterday, but I was so tired that I didn't have the strength to crawl around on my knees to get under the foot well for a few hours with basic tools. Could they really not have made it easier to get to?? :shakehead:
