E34 M5 owners, I need your help.

My dad's e34 M5 has what I suspect a MAF problem. I cannot find a MAF at any tuner or scrapyard in JHB to swap in and see if the problem persists. I would like to borrow a MAF from a fanatic and see if the problem is still there, if not then I know for sure it is the MAF at fault. Then only will I order a new MAF for the car @ R7000 from the agents...

Please can any M5 owners help me? I will pay if I have to. I only need the MAF for 1-2days of testing, hell even a few hours will suffice. Is there anyone willing to help me out?

That was just a site from memory, I'm sure there are many cheaper places like eBay :p

That's only if it turns out to be the MAF, though.

Hit up the Porsche club the old V8 Porches use EXACTLY the same MAF under a different part number.

Last time I looked it was cheaper too.

This maf has a fine platinum wire, does it look intact?

If it is the MAF dont throw the old one away I want to open it, silly I know but I do electrical engineering stuff and I want to check out the circuit and why it failed.

Also, isn't the MAF made by Bosch or something like that? Can in that case try and get it directly through them as with coil packs??

Its not coil packs, the car hesitates under 1200rpm when you try pull away from a light or slowly rolling in second gear low rpm and trying to accelerate fairly quickly. Sometimes the car cuts out for no reason while idling or coasting down to a traffic light.

2 things I suspect, MAF or crank shaft sensor. MAF is easy to find out, swap it out with another and see if the problem goes away.

Wont diagnostics show up possible failed MAF?
Does it have any chip? All the e34 M5s i have ever driven with chips were like that.
If all else fails you can come to me, quickly swop the entire airbox/MAF assy, drive around the block and see from there.

It did it with the OEM chip, then RGM fitted a dastek chip to try sort it out, that didn't work. Then Budler removed the dastek and installed his own eprom chip, that didn't work either.

Its funny that some days it does it, others not. Today its not.:nonono:
