As an aside you have the mechanical/technical IQ of a neophyte if you wish to compare modern day 2L cars that are highly stressed and weigh in at 900Kg to a nearly 2 ton 20 year old solid machine........besides it was the 535 that we were talking about and not some Honda s2000 (and I doubt that would have much success anyway).

Easy to get derailed when the initial post was ill advised........

Anything is most certainly not possible (and even in the general understanding of this saying it does not apply to a 535i vs M5 at top end)

Your input toward this 540i v M5 thread has no value. It is merely here say. And a lot of the registered users appreciate factual content and positive contributions which you are not seemingly providing. So understandably they will get upset.

what 535 is this? I find it very hard to believe that slightly modded it can out run the e34 M5

maybe the M5 was:
1: broken
2: at part throttle
