1995 model. Car has 209 000km and is up for sale. How can I check if it has nikasil issues fairly easily? I would have thought that at that mileage, it should have been sorted?

Google Nikasil block numbers, there are plenty sites on the web.

However the theory is, if it has not broken by now, its not going too.

Thanks. Tell tail signs should be smoking and oil in the air filter?

Smoking... dont think so...

If you are experiancing those symptoms. you have a problem there, smoking is usually caused by bad valve stem seals or bad rings... , as for the oil in the air filter... Really dont understnad how that works.

Oil in the water, yes.. thats cracked head gasket, but in the air filter ?

Also keen in mind, if you have a K&N or some sport filter, it is actually oiled from the factory...
