The 318i e30 plastic bumper has drum brakes at the back . Can I remove them and bolt on 320i or 325i discs (both plastic bumper )? I may get a 318i this weekend , want to start with brake upgrade . I have a 325i with ABS and 320i non ABS as donors .Thanks.

Think it might be a little bit more involved than that, would probably need to change wheel bearings as well.....but I would maybe contact hennie or racing snake on the forum, if I remember correctly they have upgraded e30 brakes before, and might be able to help you.

To convert from drums to disks in the rear you need the entire trailing arm for a disk brake car as it has the mounting ears for the callipeers. You can reuse the handbrake cables.

What you will need to do is pull the lines from the donor car as there is a restrictor in the rear brake line.

With regards to the ABS/Non ABS if your current car doesn't have ABS take the lines from the non ABS car as it will match you Master Cylinder and just be a bolt in affair.

Just connect the entire brake line from the rear t piece, up to the master cylinder, attach lines from subframe to trailing arms, and then callipers.

Easy as pie.

I was actually thinking of swopping rear suspension over , fitting ABS may be weekend job !!
I dont want to put 325i motor in 318i and ride like that , I think I may land up stripping 318i to shell and fitting all 325i parts over !!
