Hi guys, I'm Warren newby to the forum.
I got a E30 318i and the car drove nicely until some guy messed with the airflow and the car idles but smokes heavily and the problem I have now the car idles but when I rev it up it revs till bout 3000 and starts decreasing and finally dies. I can't drivve the car as this happens while dring and car slows down and dies. Please help guys what should I do here. Is it just the airflow or is there something else wrong?

Thanks Warren

Previous owner of my E30 318i had a dyno place mess with the airflow meter. Between 2800rpm and 3800rpm the engine would have this slight stutter. Was very annoying, but there would also be this slight fuel smell where ever I stopped. Was like the car wasn't getting enough air. No mechanic would touch it and they all wanted me to get a new one... like I could afford it back then. In the end I just had enough and I tuned it myself and turned the disc I think it was 3-5 teeth which allowed more air in. Car has been running 100% ever since. Even the fuel smell has gone. Average consumption is 10km/L with 90% town driving.

I'm no expert, but you can tune these. Best practice is to make marks so you know where the gear was positioned originally. I'm guessing this guy didn't. I hope SlowE30 can help. Keep us posted :thumb:
