E30 318i Clutch Leak

Hey everybody! I have a problem with my clutch. I started the car on Saturday and couldn't get any gears. In my search I found oil on the ground. I also found that the cap for the brake fluid container is cracked so I thought the oil could have leaked from the top. So I filled it up, fixed the cap and bled the clutch until it was stiff. It worked for about ten minutes then I couldn't get any gears again and the oil seems to be dripping from the bottom of the gearbox. I filled that container about six times this weekend. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I hope it doesn't cost me a lot. I had this car now for about 3 days.

Thanks for the advice Sankekur. I'll check it out.

MPower,

Where did you buy the car from, private or dealer, if dealer, the dealer has to solve your issue, else under the NCA you can cancel the deal, and the dealer has to refund.

Its either your clutch master or clutch slave, more then likely the slave. Dave from CBF did a master and a slave on my 540 for R1,200.

It was a private sale unfortunately. That doesn't sound too bad.
Just for interest sake, is it recommended to do both or can I just do the slave cylinder?

I found a original slave cylinder for R285 @ NMU Used Spares in Stikland. Now to find somebody to fit it hmmm...

Got the clutch fixed the weekend. It was the slave clutch cylinder. Total amount spent: R500.00.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Guys are these Master and Slave cylinders for our E30's still available anywhere?

I have an ever so slight clutch slip, and with that also a fluid loss.

I find that in a week, the more the clutch has slipped the more fluid it will have lost come inspection time.

I am going to pull the slave in 10 minutes to see if there is any leak visible there but in case there is a leak, I do not trust these seal kits. I prefer just fitting a complete slave.

Do you guys reckon that the slip would be the mechanics behind the clutch (air or something) causing clutch not to engage properly and hence the slipping?

Or would it rather be Fluid contaminating the clutch plate itself causing the slipping?

I really do not want to replace clutch now, so I am hoping it could be that there is just air in there somewhere, but obviously somewhere something is amiss if I am losing fluid...:bangdesk:

Just an update.

Slave cylinder is leaking and there is a lot of gunk on the fork inside, Yes, I did some probing.

Now even if I replace the complete clutch, I will obviously have to replace the slave. It just occurred to me that by replacing the slave now it will stop any future leak into the bell housing.

Would the clutch plate possibly be saved by this? No more fluid going in + time to dry up =/not= saved clutch plate?

Secondly, other than the recent slipping the clutch was performing perfectly.

Would I just replace the Friction Plate itself, and re use the Pressure Plate? Or a used friction/clutch plate if i can find a good one?

Has anyone any advice for me? Should I order a complete kit or just the clutch friction plate?

If the whole kit what is the best mnfg of them for our e30's?

LUK?
