I need to find out if anyone can advise me on getting my brakes fixed. If I step on my brake pedal it goes right down to the bottom. It feels like stepping on a sponge. I replaced the brake pads and bled the brakes three times already and it still didn't work.
There's no oil leaks as far as I can see. It did leak some fluid the other day. It looked like it came from underneath the reservoir but I think I put too much brake fluid in. Does the reservoir have a overflow?
I haven't replaced the Brake Master Cylinder yet BMW M? I'm gonna find out some prices for that so long.
I found a Brake Master Cylinder at a second hand spares shop for R550.00 (Original BMW part)
or R145.00 at Masterparts (Aftermarket). Alternatively, I can get one from a guy on gumtree who
is breaking up a E30 for R300.00.
Now my question is should I buy a second hand bmw part that might last me a couple of months because I don't know
in what condition the part is or should I just get the new aftermarket part?
I would be careful of the second had ones, chance are if they are still working are already on the way of having the same issues as the one you have now. The after market one might be the better option, depending on its quality of course.
I can't believe this thing is so hard to find. It's finally fixed.
I had it reconditioned. Paid R 260 for the whole job. I should
probably still buy a new one just in case this one gives trouble
again. Then I don't have to do all this searching again.
Thank you very much for the advice guys and thanks Skwinty
for the recon idea. Now I can drive more than 60kph again
I found something interesting on another forum regarding the BMC for
my car. The guy says if you can't find an original one you can always
upgrade your Master Cylinder to the E30 M3 or the 750iL.
How am I suppose to find a M3 BMC in S.A. if I can't even find one for
my 318i and what am I gonna pay for a 750iL BMC.
Crazy right?
Anyway, just thought I must share this with you guys.
