Howsit Guys
After many years of searching and prowling patiently, I finally took the leap and acquired my first E30 BMW :=)::=)::=):
I am a happy chappy after 2.5 months of ownership (months still to go - infinity)
I'll be the 3rd owner of this 1991 lady with a decent 246xxx on the motor. Service history is partial at the dealership from new with the remaining mechanical upkeep done at private workshops.
Upon collecting the car, I completed the mandatory service and check up. The local C.O.R. guys were quite impressed at the fact that there is zero rust on the body or undercarriage. Only faults picked up were low handbrakes and rear shocks needed replacing. Swiftly completed with said service and check up mentioned above.
Mods so far:
1. I blacked out the rocker panels as the colour coded panels were not doing the car justice and took away any depth that the black out provides. This was quite easy, Clean and degrease the areas, scuffed up the area with, i think it was, 800 grit sand paper and did 3 lights all around with Satin Black spray paint (Bought from the local Builders Express)
2. Upgraded the boring gearknob wih a non-oem Alpina Wooden piece
3. Did a quick DIY gearboot in black vinyl as the factory boot had seen better days lol
4. Rear prestige panel fitted to complete the rear end
Mods to attend to:
1. Full Exterior detail this Holiday Season and a possible ceramic coating (I detail on the part time so this will be another one to the diary)
2. Interior strip and clean (Mainly the carpets as I've done a semi clean on the Seats and Door cards)
3. Replace the exhaust and tailpipes to a quieter and more subtle set up
3. Lowering the suspension around 40mm to the front
4. Refurbish the wheels this Holiday season as well
Thanks for looking and any knowledge acquired and/or shared is always immensely appreciated
Looking forward to my first E30 meet as well :cartel:
Upon collection
After the Rocker Panel black out
Before and after - Aplina gearknob and renewed gearboot
