E28

Hi guys

I have been thinking about buying someones E28 520i/525i (not sure yet). It will be for quite a low price, I would say less than 3000. Body is in mint condition but according to the owner it needs a starter and a few other non-serious ends. I just wanted to find out are parts for this model hard to find (like the car is) and overly expensive?

Some advice would be appreciated :)

IMHO we had 520i and 528i models here in SA . The 528i had about same performance as e30 325i manual .
If you are interested please find out the model and year , I have the Car magazine road tests of these models ( 1983-1985 or so ) , I could scan and e-mail them to you if you want .
Here at the coast they rusted so body parts are scarce and shell were thrown away with interior bits .

I managed to get more info but this is from over the phone and I still need to check it out in person.

Its a 1988 520i Auto, just needs a starter and a few other bits which is included but needs to be fitted. He apparently has a donor manual as well but its not a 520i.

Edit: I assume that mechanical parts can be found quite easily since the E28 and E30 are quite similar, no?

You may have to check realoem for part numbers and cross reference for other models using the same parts . The e30 320i M20B20 had Motronic control , may be the same motor , I don't know starter motor number , could pull it off to check if time allows .
