Im new to this forum and need some advice.

Im starting a new 'long term' project with one of my old cars an E12 518i. The car has been standing for a year now and i finally decided to start something.

What my plans are is to drop in a turbo charged 2.5 6cylinder engine from an e30. Hopefully it will work...

The issue that i need assistance on is the upgrade of suspension and brakes...

I want to know whether i can use the later 5 series e28 or e 34 brake and suspension on the e12. if so which model will be a good fit?

Any advice will be appreciated...

Welcome and good luck with the project.

You have found the right forum for just that!!!

You have to place pic's though otherwise we'll have to ask Coisman to visit you....

Enjoy!

Remember that the E 12 is quite heavy and you need lots and lots of torque. Why dont you rather look at using the original 535 (M30) motor? By turbocharging this bullet proof motor, you can make up to 600nm at the wheels, not sure if you will get the same figures from a 2,5 lt engine?

The E12 535 came standard with billstein suspension and it is a gem. See if you can not find a second hand suspension somewhere?

Going the turbo route, you will have to upgrade the brake system. The E12's brakes were not too good.

Turbocharging an engine can be a very costly experience.(Now I am going to get a hiding from the BMW purists) If I ever decide to go the turbo route again, I will fit a Toyota 2JZ motor. You can pick them up quite cheap and by making a couple of changes you can produce mega horsepower from this motor.

Good luck with your project
