when i bought my car a noticed the rear left door card did not sit flush with the window(im guessing the back door window was replaced some time). the whole card seems to be 5mm away from where it should be i have tried pushing it into place but it is not working if i push it anymore im sure i will break something...

I now want to take the card off to find the problem has anyone done this before? i really dont want to break anything(i hate plastic clips)...are there any tricky bits to removing it?

I opened the front door card of my various bm's a few times. Usually 3 or 4 hex screws holding the door together. 2 of them are usually hidden behind the wooden strips (which just pop out). Once all the screws are out, just pull the door card starting from the bottom.

The rest of the door card just has clips and it sounds like these may be the culprit - if they are not sitting right (or broken) your door card will not be flush. You can also buy clips quite cheaply from BMW if yours are broken or missing.

Just be carefull of the door latch when removing the card - you should be able to figure it out once all the clips are out, as it will be the only thing left (besides the wiring for the light and window switch). Alternately, go to any place that installs sound - they do this all the time (and usually do not put all your clips back in the process :cursin: )

'fixed' thanks for the help :)
the plastic section that has the door handle on was unglued so i just had to glue it back :)
whoever removed it last destroyed the leatherette around the door handle i was hoping that when it was fitted properly i would be able to cover it up :(
its not that bad suppose no one else will notice
