Dyno mode?

Hi all.

Currently having my car dyno'd for my after chart (burgers chip put in) and the car is misbehaving on the dyno. She does not want to stay in "traction control free" mode. The second she gets to just over 500 nm, it wheel spins on the dyno and then kicks in the traction control again, even though it is completely disengaged.

I was told we need to put the car in "Dyno Mode" but have no idea how to. Any advice please.

The car is a 2013 M135i manual (f20)

Thanks

As far as I know, most BMW's M cars now need to use a diagnostics program, such as INPA or DIS to disengage the traction Control when on the Dyno.

My f30 works fine on a dyno, maybe try holding the traction button in for a full 10 seconds for it to be completely off? Maybe u have done this...anyways goodluck

01 - 03 Gen e46 M3's could just turn of traction control by holding down the DSC button for ten seconds. 04 and up, BMW M cars require BMW's GT1 diagnostic tool to tell the car, it is now on a DYNO. This allows the car to rev past 6000rpm and disengage traction control completely.

DIS and INPA are alternative diagnostic tools that could do the same.

Yes we did try the 10 second thing, but once again, it kicks out around 510 nm every time.

Oh well. I guess this way it's more exiting actually. You know. Somebody asks me: How much power does your car make? I can now answer. An unmeasurable amount.

bud, ive dyno'd my car a few times without any problems.

Put it into sport + and hold in the DSC button for 5 seconds. Yes it will through out a few errors as the rear wheels will be moving while the front are keeping still but it should still work.

where are you taking it for a dyno?

Not talking about the errors, those are fine. The car literally cuts the power. It's like it re-engages the DSC.

We also tried sport + and then DSC but same result. Having it done at TopEnd racing in Bellville.

Just called Reynolds about this problem. You need the GT2 to disengage the traction control completely on the 135i. Apparently some earlier model cars are different and can disengage the normal way. Hope this helps

I have the same problem with my 2016 f32 440i. It just vuts power at about 3500rpm. Has anybody tried the dyno mode which cab be reached in the hidden dash menu? Any otherway to engage the dynomode via rheingold program? Thank you

Ran my 240i a week ago with no issues, could be different on the 4 series though.

I did have an issue once at the H&M Tuning BMW Fanatics dyno event two years ago on my M135i, car looked like it wanted to jump off the dyno, kept cutting power over a certain rpm, it was however limited to that dyno only, ran on several others without this issue reoccurring.

Have you tried another dyno?

@200ts what type of dyno was it? Thank you

What type of the ones that worked or the one that didn't it was a while ago, but I guess we could call H&M to confirm.

I meant just if it was a 2 wheel drive dyno or a 4wheeldrive dyno where you tested your 240i. Thank you

Tyremart in Sunninghill is 2WD, ran the 240i there.
