Hey chaps,

I had recently queried a carbon clean service on my 335 with George and after briefly discussing the idea with a few local forumites I thought with the guidance of George if we could do a Durban and surrounds group buy? Proposing if we could get 4-5 cars together on a day at the workshop and let them loose for a clean up complete with pics and write ups.

I know there was definite interest from 2 others and myself... If George has the capacity to make this group deal happen I know my car and fuel consumption will love me for it!

There is a second Durban (Chatsworth) dealer coming on board. Although they use my know how they have their own pricing policy. I will run this past them and post in this thread. I am sure it's do able as I am prepared to forfeit my "share" in return for customer reviews on the results and service received. If we can pull this off around the third week of September I will be in Durban myself. Both facilities have dynos so we can do some before and after testing as well.

Before and after dynos sound awesome. But George maybe you should also let the guys know that the motor and carbon needs to be cold before the blasting can begin.

I for one, have never seen the fuel saving, but then again i also started my mods right after the clean.:flyfun: But the smoothness the clean brings to the car, i would say its a must for everyone who drive a direct injection!

I have spoken to the guys in Durban, we can do three cars in a day. The first car will have to stay overnight from the night before and the other two can be dropped of in the morning. I am not sure how everyone is time wise but a suggested date for the cleans is the 19th of September. We will need to do the dyno of the first car the night before and the other two first thing in the morning to allow the motors to cool. If there is enough demand we can do the rest of the cars on the 20th of September. I will be down on the 19th myself with my 335 to attend the Matuba X35 event on Saturday the 21st so will oversee all the cleans.
Cost for the clean, two dyno runs and a INPA diagnostic test and explanation if faults are found will be R2500. If for whatever reason we can not get all the cars it is also not a problem as long as they are done in September we will honor the price.

BMW will not be able to argue that the valves are clean and should be clogged. There are not traces of the clean left and OEM gaskets are used. If there was a need for them to take the manifold off do you think they would contact a customer to ask why its clean and that it should be clogged.
I would not tell the dealer I had it done cause they may say non authorized workshop but further than this there is nothing they can really say if they notice how clean the valves are.

First of all I must say thank you George for coming though on a group special like this! I look forward to meeting you and having my baby spring cleaned..

To the rest of the forum members with a direct injection petrol or Diesal, what are you waiting for? Here is an opportunity to have a seasoned tuner with a great reputation, offer a great service at a greatly discounted rate all while still being local in Durban...

Let the list grow...
