Dunlop LM704

Good day all.

I have a 2008 X3 3.0d with Bridgestone tyres on. The front is almost done and rear still has good thread.

I'm gonna change all four tyres and got a good price on dunlop lm704.

Anybody have experience with this tyre or any reviews? I've read up on the interweb and for mixed reactions.

Thanx in advance

I have never had any good experiences from dunflops, why not just get a new set of Bridgestones again?
Dunflops are cheap for a reason...

Buy a budget tyre, even one with a name, expect budget performance and lifespan

be prepared to operate within the constraints and limitations of a budget tyre, and you won't be dissapointed

but

if you expect lifespan, grip/handling/noise-levels etc of an upper brand name tyre, then prepare to be dissapointed

the Dunlop's I have seen removed prematurely, at my shop , seem to be mainly due to sidewall bubbles and sidewall failure.

Not everyone has spare cash lying around to afford the more expensive top brands in tyres, and thus are forced by economics, to settle for a lower quality brand, keep the expectations realistic....to avoid any disappointment

Thanx for the responses. I've also been reading up on the yokohama g055.

I don't mind spending money on tyres but if I can save a few rands then even better

Dunflops are crap tyres. Best stay away.

Its worth spending the bit more for a good branded tyre. The cheaper brands are cheaper for a reason and that reason is not because the manufacturer is concerned about your wallet.

Tyres are one of the most important safety features on your car. Get the best your money can buy. A set thats going to give you the confidence under various conditions and comfort.

On the flip side, I am/ was a huge fan of Dunlop SP Sport tyres, never gave me a hassle and worked extremely well, albeit a bit noisy, given that they were sport tyres.

From I understand you get the Dunlop tyres that are made in SA which are proper rubbish, and the imported Dunlop tyres (like the SP Sport) which seem to be of better quality.

Google reviews, check the tyre brands that compete with the tyre, find out which is best in class and go with that. Rather spend a bit extra on something with great quality though, sometimes cutting costs isn't always the best in the long term.
