DSC Control Unit

Hi All,

I have a 2005 E87 120i.

The car has 36 000km on the clock and has run perfectly recently the DSC warning light came on so I took it into the dealer who said the DSC control unit needs to be replaced at a cost of R38k this is unaffordable at this stage especially when nothing seems wrong when driving the vehicle??? Can anyone recommend any suggestions on where I could take the car for a second opinion or any other help on what I should do? I am based in DBN.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. The accepted practice is that you should introduce yourself and post a picture of your car.

To replace the DSC control unit sounds outrageous and is typical dealer behaviour.

You should get your car to an independent BMW expert who can read the fault codes on the car. This should indicate which components are really faulty.

My guess is that one of the wheel speed sensors is faulty or dirty which is activating the DSC warning light as the control unit cannot determine the wheel speed.
