Good to all,

I am currently owning a 320i auto 2010 at 134k km with fsh. I'm starting to like the 320d due to fuel consumption reviews. Would like to find out the prons and cons on a 2012 320d auto vs manual as I'm currently about to purchase one ( 2012 320d manual). What other things to look for before I drive it home.

The auto is without a doubt the pick of the 2. The 8-speed ZF is a revelation and an amazing box to live with and it is extremely well suited to the 20d motor. Manual is much more of a chore to drive, but some might argue that the driver involvement is a pro.

Dis the E90 come with ZF 8 speeds?

OP hasn't stated whether the car is E90 or F30,so E90 would have 6 speed, F30 would have 8 speed.

I had @Shak 320d manual for a couple days, on the short runs, it was heavier on fuel than the auto, can't comment on the open road though.
Manual is a bit tedious on diesels due to the short rev band, given the choice, I would get another auto.
