diff noise

Hi guys

i have this noise; but not sure if its a concern; its only audible in 1st and 2nd gear; its got like a whine but not like really loud; goes away after like 80kmph

do you think i should change the diff oil; how difficult is it and whats required?

You sure it is coming from the diff?

its only when the car is in gear; and its sounds like the rear; so i'm guessing the diff.

in neutral rolling; there's no noise.

I would like to know what the answer to your question is, as my Moms 2005 E46 318i also have a very soft whine in the lower gears and it also sounds as if the noise is coming from the back.
