Deciding on my first BMW

Hi guys
I'm deciding on my first Beemer! Currently own a 98 Golf VR6.

I'm looking at the E36 328i, as it would be in my price range. Have you guys got any opinions maintenance wise E36 328i vs Golf VR6. Hands down I love the E36 but afraid to own one due to reliability and cost :( my VR6 is pretty mint untouched and I don't want to change to something that will just cause problems and hurt my fNb card.

A well looked after e36 will give u many happy motoring miles. Some of the guys on the forum are knocking well over 3 50 - 400 km. I love my E36 and just a few weeks ago walked away from a vet in 4th lol. There's no arguing that sometimes a beemer can be a bit pricey, but if u look after her......she'll look after you. Are you selling the golf? How much? I wish all the best on finding a well maintained neat e36. I love my 325i

I would assume, the Golf only has 170km on clock. Only issue right now is a bush on the lower arm control which is about R500 to fix. I could sell it for R55k-R60k and buy a neat 328i.

So tempting :) but if the 328 isn't much worse cost wise then why not?

Parts are readily available from many different spares places and these cars are super reliable if maintained properly, so find a good one and it will still be around when all the e90 and f30's have turned to dust...

Buy Kobus's 328i, nuff said!

Will have a look! It will be used for getting to collage and back and driving on weekends. June I will continue working. I guess all the people who say the cars are expensive because they drive it till it stops or blows a head gasket

If Kobus's 328i doesn't tickle your fancy then I have a '97 Acid Green 328i Individual and a '98 Techno Voilet 328i Individual that I will be selling later this year.

Ideally you want the Individual over the standard 328i as the individual's cosmetics and more comfortable interior make a big difference.

Also I'd be saving on petrol if I do get the 328i because my vr6 currently does 11l/100km and further distances 9l/100km

The 325 and the 323 are both 2.5l although you're looking at a 20kw deficit
