The day i purchased my 1997 316i i was happy, but felt like the car needed something...

Then.... a DECAT was done, wow!! Performance and fuel economy

Big up to Kwik-Fit in Meadowdale, they guys did a great job!

Highly recommended!

+1 and how does it sound now?

Powerpipes wants R700 to decat and put a straight pipe in. For a resonator I think they wanted extra R600.

@Jiggy .. good price, guess i'll be going there. Does it sound any different? Did Kwik-Fit recommend you go resonator rather then straight?

So any exhaust place e.g Kwik-Fit, HiQ, Supaquick etc can do a decat?? I always thought a place that deals in perfomance exhaust like TNT deal with that.

Depends, yes they can remove the cat thats under the car on the exhaust.

But the cats in the headers are more tricky, and usually require a cat fooler of some sorts.

the supaquick by my house, said they wouldnt recommend doing it on my car, but my mechanic who only deals with BMW's said get rid of it

@Lindo .. that is what I thought, but you need to phone and ask. Some of them don't do it like the SupaQuick on Witkoppen for example.

Powerflow quoted me R1300 to remove both CATs on the E90 320d. I was seriously considering it, but if you talk about quotes half the price, then maybe I should look elsewhere?

The newer cars will cost more, as they usually need cat foolers.

There was a thread about removing cats on a diesel & if I remember correctly they said it was not a good idea

Well, guess I'm gonna be the Guinea pig to try out the deCAT on the e90 320d. I've already got a remap and Superchips said they will write out the O2 sensor in the mapping

The car is currently on 81900km. Obviously I still have a motor plan. Thing is, some people tell me that decatting a car won't void the motor plan, others tell me that it will. Some here and some elsewhere. So I don't know to be honest. It's probably not worth taking the chance. But it's something I need to consider once the motor plan expires. A chip and decat would be a nice I think.

Sorry to intrude in this thread.
