First mod on any of our BMWs is to debadge, second mod is tint. Usually happens on the same day as getting the vehicle

My 330i is debadged even though it can be mistaken for a 323/325. With a 335i, there is no downside.
What do people have against non-m3 cars with an ///M badge?
Note, I'm talking about plain M Badge not the M3 badge. I don't see a problem with having the plain ///M badge, especially if you have a sportpack which is already covered in M badges.

Just wanted to find out everyone's opinion on debadged BMWs.

Personally, everytime a I saw a BMW with a model designation delete my first thought was was "oh, must be a small engine" - up until recently. A friend of mine has a debadged e92 325d and my mum drives a 530i that was recently debadged (My idea), I actually think I'm starting to prefer the debadged look. I'm sure for those of us "who are in the know" would be able to distinguish an e93 330i from a 335i (for example). On the contrary, the e60 models had twin exhausts across the range, though I think the 550s were slightly bigger (?), and now F10 has twin exhausts from 520d-530d; I guess in this case you wouldn't really know unless you heard the engine or noticed minor tell-tale signs.

Debadged 335s and 550s look great IMO, I like the symmetric look.

You are right. The 550i is larger than the rest. Debadging hides nothing from car when it is started up

Nothing smaller than a V8 is going to rumble the jungle

I guess it comes down to personal preference, certain models do benefit from debadging as it gives the rear a nice clean look. Then again there is also the perception that the smaller engined derivatives are usually debadged.

Imo the whole M badge on a non "M" car is taken way too seriously, if BMW themselves can add M badges on everything from 318's to diesels...just accept that trinkets and go faster stripes sells cars...and that in most cases is the bottom line.

Point taken. Though I think model designation or signage is meant to show what's under the hood, an ///M badge would (ideally) mean that the engine is ///M tuned, maybe it's just me. I guess we'll be seeing more and more people putting an M-badge on their boots because of BMW's performance line choice of nomenclature, will just have to accept it. :thumbdo:

M Badge on a non M car is kinda like a pair of socks in your broekies.
But I also do agree, modern BMW does just treat it as a marketing gimmick.

True. In England they sell a lot more M-Sport X5s, 3series and 1series than standard "SE" models. A lot of People want an M package on their cars.

Thread Revival!

Finally decided to de-badge my car, liking the cleaner look. Couple of people thought it was a 330i, works for me :fencelook:

I do not believe in debadging cos I always buy what I want and therefore want everyone to see and know whar model it is.

The only mid I would like to make to the badge is make it black:thumbs:

If my 330i came with no badge, it would have been the first part I ordered from BMW

I especially hate it when curious to know what it is other than a 3 or 5 series - there are tell tail signs but sometimes not enough. So still not a fan of this...

Different opinions I guess. Anyone who really wants and is in the know should be able to tell what's under your hood without having to see a badge.

The ones who are trying to fool people are the ones who re-badge IMO.

Don't worry, it's your car and if you think it looks better then that's fine. It does look good. But I wouldn't do it to my car.

With that pristine condition alpine white body, your car does look great with the de-badge mod. Very clean.

But that sticker:thumbdo:

I de badge all my cars, always prefer the clean look on the boot lid. Its a safety thing too as a 328i/330i will get stolen/hijacked over a 318i/320i. If the bastard doesn't know what model it is then he will move on...

I'm all for the clean look, sometimes the 320d or 325i is too busy for the boot. Keep things clean and simple
