Dealership praise/horror stories

I wish to commend Jaco Nell from Sovereign BMW Bloemfontein for the excellent service provided to me with the purchase of my 420d M Sport Gran Coupe. This is my 4th BMW purchased so far (from 4 different dealerships) and definitely the best experience of all.

Initially I was a bit hesitant buying a vehicle from a dealership situated more than 1 000 km away but everything went smoothly. My vehicle was delivered to me in Paarl (in perfect condition) and the traded in vehicle also collected within 48 hours after payment was done.

My 420 was a demo vehicle with about 19k on the odometer when purchased and Jaco, to my surprise, even fitted 4 band new 19" runflat tyres at no additional cost to me.

That colour looks amazing. Loving the rims as well. Congrats buddy. Hope you have many fun filled km's

Thank you. I also think the combo of MG body colour and Orbit Grey bicolour rims works very well.

The car drives like a dream.

Do you work somewhere in Brackenfell? I think I just spotted your car from the R300 at the Shoprite Distribution centre

I am based in Paarl. I was at Makro next to Cape Gate earlier today though to buy some Meguiar's products for the car. So not sure if it was me you saw? Wanted to get the dealership FS numberplates changed this morning but the Traffic department seems to be closed till 2 January.

Heya guys

So when I thought things couldn't get any worse....
I tried trading my car - the one I bought from Soveriegn Bloemfontein - (just to test the waters) with another vehicle at Menlyn BMW. So the sales guy took down all the particulars of my vehicle, calls me back and says to me that my car has been in some sort of accident, Comments on the vehicle history.

:blueCry::blueCry:

No one can tell me if it was a major/minor accident NOR what the value of the repair was, just to give me 'some' indication as to what is going on and how bad the car was damaged and repaired.

I really don't know what to do now. If there is anyone on this forum that is able to assist with some advice as to the recourse I should/could persue, please come through. I feel cheated because had the dealer mentioned it when I asked. I probably would've walked away from the deal OR negotiated on the price.

Please assist if yoll can guys.

Thanks.

Go to another Bmwdealership and give them your VIN number to check service history as a start. Or phone BMW south africa.

A "comment" can be (many) things...from changing a bumper to an aftermarket one...or tucking the rear fenders just a little to fit larger wheels...or a small accident that required touch up paint to be applied. So first go check for yourself...avoid the guy that told you the story the first time.

You can PM me with your VIN or Coisman to check the car history.

I have to give it to Jhb City Auto... With there being no more dealerships in Jhb south and not being able to get my car to JSN. I had the awesome experience of having my 335i sorted by their team (car spent a week there).. I don't know where to start, has to be one of the Best experiences I have had with BMW in all my years. Full detailed report of what they checked, done, etc. Taking the time to talk me through everything with no rush to get me out the door.. Dropping me off outside of their pickup radius, no questions asked, just customer first all the way.. Also not driving you around in a run of the mill car, proper 4 and 5 series, feels good. Very impressed

Had my handbrake adjusted at Joburg City Auto - (dont know why i took it there again after some bad service), but anyways on the highway huge shudder like some lug nuts was loose on a tyre........ fast lane in excess of 140kmh....

Needless to say i almost shat my pants trying to get to the left shoulder on the N1 but managed to do so and took New road offramp, call BMW on call to tow to Auto Bavaria Midrand (closest dealership).

ABM advised the handbrake was over adjusted and the whole brake shoes and drum assembly was cooked, replaced all 4 discs, pads, shoes and drum assembly's at Joburg City Auto's Expense - around 16k for everything (car was still under motorplan but since JCA did a mess up - they had to pay apparently).

So on a lighter note, if you want to repair your vehicle like crap and then have other parts replaced at no expense to you - go to JCA first then to another dealership to complain about the work done lol.......

ABM has been real good to me all round

Look I will give it to them in terms of how customers are treated (they dropped me off in Midrand and picked me up), but in terms of the work done on your car I would be a bit weary, they do give a detailed breakdown what not but I've had some issues with them servicing my e92 335i and had to go back there to have things sorted out.

IMO I would stick to the dealerships with experienced mechs and give JCA a few more years before visiting them again.

Anyone got some good recommendations for a BMW dealer in the south? Perhaps as far up as Cresta and Bedfordview? Have had no service from Auto Glen and tired of their nonsense

I bought 3 BMWs from SMG Pietermaritzburg over the years and I have nothing but praise for their professionalism, their humour and above all, their resilience in dealing with a tough no nonsense expert- at -moaning customer like me for so long. They're not perfect but they're always happy to listen and find a way to accommodate their customers in resolving a disagreement, and for that I admire them deeply. I've even gone there recently to protest that some parts were being discounted in other dealerships so I'd like a discount too and they did not argue and fiddled around their systems to give me one:thumbs:
