Dealership is KAK!!!

Hi all, So about 4 weeks ago my car 2007 320d E90 auto with 97 000 kms gave me some gearbox problems. So i took it in to BMW . . . :thinking:

They said the gearbox is faulty and will replace it with a new box cause it is still under motorplan.

So, i got a call on Monday to come and collect my car :excited: i happily walk into the dealership and pick up my baby. I drive all the way home 30km from dealership and as i stop my car and put it into PARK the car jerks foward horribly! So i take it for a proper test drive. THE GEAR CHANGE IS UNSMOOTH, THE CAR IS DRIVING LIKE S*^T!!!

So i take the car back to them and explain, to my suprise, they didn't replace the box, they refurbished my old box through ZF :censored::banghead:

So now i leave my car there agian. Take note, it has been with them for 4 weeks already!!!

I get a phone call on tuesday to say that the gentleman from ZF will come and look at my car in the morning and i need to be present WTF, i sent my car to BMW Technicians not ZF, so bmw must sort this sh&T out!!! So i decide to have patience and go through at 8 o'clock as discussed.... The guy from ZF only arrives at 9:40:cursin:

He plugs his laptop in and says "oh, we dont need to test drive the car, its a programme issue :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

So i leave the dealearship and get told they will call me when it is ready.

The call me in the afternoon and say i can come and collect my car. YAY!!! :mmm:

So i drive all the way there and pick up my car and guess what...... The car changes gears harder than a truck :cursin::hammerhead:

So i have to leave my car there again, the guy from ZF says that he cant do anything before the 6th of June cause hes technician is on leave!!!!

AND I HAVE TO KEEP MY COOL, i think i have been more than patient!!!

ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITUATION PLEASE ASSIST!!! Cause this is terrible service

BMW do not sell or get new boxes, only refurbs... You can enter the part number for the box on their system, it will show up as "refurbished gearbox"... So you better let them sort it out. At least now you are supposed to have an additional 2 year warranty on the part, since it looks like your motorplan is about to expire. Goodluck

i know i have the 2 year warranty which is grea.... But i mean, if the box has just been done, then why am i having these issues and why does it take the so long!!!

Terrible service!!!!

If they can just help you to get to 100k km, then they can tell you to buzz off since it's off Motorplan.

Go up higher and demand a new box. Throw your toys. Nobody gets anything from BMW by waiting for them to fix it. You've been patient, but it's time to stand up. Good luck and let us know what the outcome is.

Sharp Hellas... I think thats the way foward now.... I've been nice and kissing ass for 4 weeks and it has got me . . . well nowhere :cursin:

I think its time to be ugly cause clearly being nice gets you no where with this place!!!

When i went to collect the first time she pulled out the job card and said to me, Oh, they have not replaced you "gearbox" scratching her head.... They have replaced your "transmission" :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I felt like jumping over the table and slapping her silly and saying..... A GEARBOX AND TRANSMISSION IS THE SAME THING BIAATCH!

Who's the dealership?? This is pathetic... I agree, contct BMWSA directly seeing as the dealerships have no/little control over what gets replaced under MP other than the normal service items. Best of luck, keep us posted! :thumb:

We shouldnt have to stand for/accept service like that!

You'd expect more from a brand like BMW!

alot more..... except they focus too much on giving you a courtesy muffin and cuppucino while taking an hour to book your car in :nono:

We have had similar service from Lyndhurst auto.. My dads E60 sat there for nearly 3 months for them trying to finish it.. everytime it was "ready" so my dad goes to collect & ends up waiting a few hours & its not ready..

also our E46 went back 4 times for the same problem.. until they managed to fix it..

My dad got offered a bottle of water while he waited for them... then as he is about to leave, they tell him the water is R10...

Simple...

Walk in there, insist, demand a loaner.

Tell them that the "slamming" of the car into gear is bad for your propshaft couplin, diff bushes, you refuse to drive the car, and they need to open up a case with BMW, you want your car fixed, and they need to supply you with a courtesy car... not tomorrow, not in 5 weeks from now, your on your way to pick up a loaner.

Two things, car is stuck in their workshop, shows bad on their stats, and you have a motorplan issued loaner, with that kind of pressure, you will get this done.

Even if you dont need the loaner, just get it.

In the 3 months the car sat there, they replaced exhaust, fog lights, & a key(which had to go back twice to get right)... thats all.. in that time they also put a nice scratch in the bumper & had to get it resprayed...


the car has been back a few times trying to find a reason for "high rate of battery discharge" coming up on the dash every day

Thats what we did.. 2 weeks before we got the car back we eventually got a loan car.. told my dad he can keep it for 5 days.. he just kept it untill all the cars were fixed... and it was a crappy start edition 320i auto

I would kick their asses!!! WTF!! This is a premium brand with a premium price, if I want that kind of service I'll go and buy a Ford or Toyota... :mmm:

Thank God for Pinnacle Auto! Never ever ever ever - touch wood - have I had bad service from them. :thumbsup:

What was wrong with the fog lights Andrew? My Dynamic is starting to show small hairline cracks in the lenses (not from stones or impact) seems like the crack from the heat off the globes... :dunno:
