Okay went to BMW Repair in Pta and damage is R 15500.

New door, seals and trim = R 7800+-

Rest is Labour.

Since car is still under motor plan it has to be done at a BMW repair center, which there are two of in PTA.

Hey there dude,
You do not have to take it to an approved BMW repair centre. If you do, BMW puts "comments" on your car and this effects you negatively when it comes to trading in your cabbie.

Rather take it to Dent Doctor (if it is not too much of a hassel) and have piece of mind that they will do a damn good job with the issues with BMW having "comments" on your ride

Just my 2c worth

Thanks Jenich,

Although again, I am not fishing for the work.

I just advocate, profusely, every chance that I get, that you do not have to use an approved BMW center.

Its a matter of ethics, it pisses me off that BMW themselves will tell customers that you MUST use a BMW authorized repair center, but they go and do the following.

1. They are no longer approving bmw repairers, instead they have opened BMW licensed repair centers, affiliated to a dealership, and can charge what they like.

2. A BMW representative (ok it was a dealer) will walk into my shop, and tell me that I can do motorplan work provided I pay them a fee

3. That some of the repairs I have seen from "BMW panel shops" are frikken terrible....

The other thing is, you CANNOT order body spares from BMW without giving them a VIN number, and as soon as you buy the parts, motorplan is suspended, and has to be re-instated...

BMW figured, they are loosing sooo much business from guys doing repairs on the sly, and thats why they have made the offer to panel shops to still do Motorplan work, just as long as you buy the spares from them, and pay them their due's.....

Its all about the money honey..
