The quality of carpets and plastics in R1M-1.5M cars is getting worse and worse. You can feel it in the pile. Compare with an E39 to see how far we have come... it's shocking. I've seen some cheaper (sub 500K new) vehicles that don't even have proper carpets - it is more like a boot lining with some foam on the bottom and then rubber mats or carpets on top of this.
I have to agree with the 'common' centre sleector/drive mode stack that all these vehicles seem to have adopted. My F10 didn't wear out in all the time I owned it yet 2 year old G15s have had noticeable interior wear. I have seen half a dozen now and they all have similar kinds of wear in this area. Anything fake piano black or fake aluminium will face this challenge. The only way around this seems to be the wood trim packages (not to everyone's tastes), extended leather option (usually 100K+) or ceramic touch interior controls (also not 100% convinced on this). A 'normal' brushed aluminium trim would make so much more sense and probably look better. I posted many times about the peeling/bubbling 'galvanic' effect steering wheel on our Merc. Again - all designed just to look good in pics and first 5000km.
On piano black: fake piano black (real piano black is multi-layered laquered wood and can be polished) that is present on all these cars as a 'premium' option looks absolutely HORRIBLE as well. The trim surfaces of all these vehicles are also very susceptible to scratching. I have found this to be the case in my F90 (F10 had a metal mesh which could be damaged but repaired or replaced on JUST the damaged bit. The new cars basically have a 'printed on' thin finish on a thin aluminium frame (bear in mind this is even worse on the F90 LCI with the lighter 'carbon mesh effect' finish somehow). With the fancy lighting you have to turn to the aftermarket for replacements/covers (and you can also get these in real carbon). BMW will have you buy a whole new door pad for instance to replace these trims and they are probably the lowest quality item in the vehicle though (surprise surprise) they look great in pictures

. The same kind of surface is present in G15s as most of the vehicles I've seen do not have the extended leather option or wood-trim options that would have otherwise replaced this. I have yet to see one (even 1 or 2 years old) that doesn't have scratches on these surfaces.
Example of that pattern: The F90 is more 'premium' in terms of texture but pretty much the same idea - very evident with the lightest scratch
