Creaking Seat

I have an e90 with motorised leather seats and my driver seat is creaking. I'm not sure where the creak is coming from but whenever I go over speed bump or take turns it creaks.

I had a look around the seat and underneath it, but I can't replicate the sound when I'm not driving :/

Do you know what the probable cause of this and how I can sort it out?

Mate i had a similar problem on my 130i. Drove me freaking NUTS!

So i got a bottle of WD-40 put on the little red extension on the nozzle and sprayed all the springs/hinges under my seat. I basically spreayed all the moving parts that could make a noise etc. A tip though put ur seat on the highest setting when doing this, gives you better access.

I then moved the seat back and forth a bit, up and down and then left it over night.

Problem was MUCH better after that, needed a few more sprays the day after on places i obviously missed and then the noises were gone.

It really drove me mad, BMW couldn't even sort it out.:argh:

My E46's driver seat creaking sound come from the seatbelt catch that rubs against the leather seat. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll check. How did you fix it?

I didnt... Since the missus uses the car now as a daily. I would suggest sticking a piece of felt on the mechanism where ot touches the seat.

My drivers seat too. I only notice it when driving 'enthusiastically', not sure if it's due to the bends or the fact that I turn down the radio :fencelook:

Took my car in to SMG cape town for a holiday check and asked them to sort it out for me. The creaking is gone.

What did they do?

(If the car is under motorplan, they probably swopped out the seats... :mmm: )

I'm not sure exactly what they did but they told me that they tightened up some "loose bits". All I know is the creak is gone.

So I sprayed WD40 in all the springs/moving parts & haven't noticed the noise lately. I must remember to turn down the radio & listen while doing some enthusiastic cornering.

Only time my seat "creaks" is when I ate allot of beans and onions! :mmm:

...mind you for some reason my eyes also start tearing up then...

Went for a drive last night and the seat was silent for most of the drive, until I took some corners in the dark. I realized that my seat is creaking when I lean back into the seat so it's not the bottom of the seat but actually the back support. I'm guessing there's nothing I can do about that? At least no quick/cheap fix, as I'm out of mplan.

PTFE Spray will sort that out and any other rattles etc.

Call SOS Oil on 021 448 5564, my dad stocks it and Maserati locally use it to cure rattles on the Quattroporte.
