Hi guys and greetings,

been looking for a site like this for sometime now. hope I can get some help and answers here.

I bought a 1996 316i E36 back in dec 2003. car was in great condition, belonged to a mate of mine so I new what I was getting. It did use a lot of oil (valve seals) and I had planned to sort it out. Took the car to JHB in dec 2004 and pulled the motor out at my brother -in - laws shop and basically fixed everything. drove it back to CT and its been going great ever since.

till "someone" at the garage last year failed to put the radiator cap back on properly, ordinarily I don't allow them to touch anything without my supervision. but this one slipped by. :bangdesk:

so yes a few days later the car over heated in traffic. this could have been prevented had I known the AC fan was not working! since then I have replaced relay 13 / 14 / 15.

anyway had to have the head removed and welded up :argh: it cracked around the valve seats.

they did a shitty job  many things were wrong when the car came back. 6 months later its using water again - about a liter a week!

so my question is where can I get a good quality 2nd hand UN DAMAGED cylinder head for this car. besides buying a brand new one from BMW! and how do I distinguish between cylinder heads, so that I don't get shafted!

I'm hoping someone here on this site has got one lying around in his garage :joy:

I bought a new Cylinder head for my e46 M3 from IPC. Speak to Werner. His number is 072 380 0684, or call the office at 011 840 6960. They organised me the cylinder head in under a day and even delivered it.

Great service. No issues since.

Came with cams, valves, rockers, springs, the works.

They will be able to source you a head in no time.

great thanks guys, will have to get one soon. the first time it cracked after over heating I had steam coming out the exhaust for the first 2kms :(

Crash_Nemesis what did it cost?

thanks

Ok before I forget and seen that I'm forced to replace the head is there any thing I can do to improve the performance while I'm at it?
