The other day I was at the mall and it was very hot.So while reversing, I noticed some greenish/pinkish liquid. today when I check the coolant level it was very low. What could be the cause? water pump? Will a pressure test help?

Hi, firstly the coolant should be blue, not green or pink, so it was mixed recently,

could be a leaking radiator, but depending on mileage best bet would be water pump.

or just also check the EGR themostat, that is common,

no need to pressure test, just go under the car and look you will see where the water is leaking from,

Could be something as simple as a worn out pipe ( cracks), or a clamp that has loosened for whatever reason.

Good luck!

Yes, could be the egr thermostat that is leaking. They love to start leaking at the end of the housing (looks like the plastic housing is crimped to a point) and that is where they normally start to leak. Could also be the water pump or even a loose clamp (although i think the e90's all have o-ring clamps)

Yip, looks like it.
The coolant colour (blue or green) should make it alittle easier to located the leak though.

Thanx for the comments gents. The thing is the car doesn't leak everyday. So I will check the egr thermostat and the water pump

ok guys! I removed the engine cover and checked. now under neath the EGR there is a water/coolant pipe that has some sort of a valve and it looks like the coolant is leaking from that valve. Some guy tell me there is pressure inside the engine and I must take off the head send it to the engineering. Help!

Maybe try inspecting the pipe and the valve a bit more closely? Post some pictures.

I specifically asked Leo Haese about around 2 weeks ago, Louis in parts has been selling blue BMW coolant only.

Thats an easy one. Get a new bleed screw of agents. They are not expensive. When fitting it please please do not over tighten. Snug fit should be fine. If you over tighten you could crack that pipe which is not cheap. If you in the east rand you can pop over by me. I have a couple spare bleed screws. No charge.

A trick I was thought from this forum, use some Vaseline on new one when putting it in,

As long as you don't over tighten. I learnt the hard way. I cracked to pipes. R3k later. With age they become very very brittle.
