Considering a 320i/d Touring

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, and joined as I'm in the market for a BMW 3er. I prefer the Touring with sportpack, esp after checking out the e91 thread on e90post.com.

To cut a long story short, I don't want to spend more than R120k, and there's a e91 320i M-Sport Manual - http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=414435148, going for R110k.

I drove the car, and it felt sluggish(was honestly hoping for more grunt), and no Xenons, which would've been welcomed. Owner mentioned car was in a side-swap but was badly repaired as I can see the overspray on the door sills.

Do you guys recon this is a good buy, and if not should I neg price to maybe R100k before buying(to cater for new paint job and to fix the right-rear-door as there's evidence of body work)?

Alternatively, there's this one - http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-ViewAd?AdId=413123891, but not an M-Sport nor does it have the Pano roof and sport seats. But it's a tractor+auto, so shouldnt have performance, but might be a bit costly to maintain(due to turbo maybe?) as I would want to keep the car for a wee longer.

Looking forward to your responses.

Tractor all the way. It will outperform the 320 all the time.

I miss my tourer and will get 320d as soon as i can again.

Tourer rocks

And sportspack might be bad idea. They are low and i assume the tourer will be loaded with luggage etc.

welcome buddy and as the first reply says

Tractors rule

I had a choice between a 320i Msport with dynamic edition and a 320d exclusive in my price range, I chose to spend the moola on the motor, instead of the kit. So trust me, rather go for the D, and live without the sport seats and kit. In the end you will want more power in a big heavier touring.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

So I got a CIA report on both cars, and things are not looking good. http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/images/smilies/Top24/nono.gif
Both cars had motorplan from 2006 till 2011, but the 320i was last seen in 2010(exactly a year before motorplan expired) with 78000km on the clock, while the 320D was last seen in 2008, with (90000)km on the clock.

The tractor has a repainted rear bumper, and Motorplan was cancelled due to owner using unauthorised body repair shop. If I can get rest of service history from the 320i owner, with reduced pricing, i might go for it, else I'll be on the lookout for a 320D Sedan(with Xenons, Sunroof and optional M-Sport kit).

I'll see how my search pans out, might find a GEM hidden on the web somewhere. http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/images/smilies/Top24/fencelook.gif

welcome D all the way, I have the E91 sport pack with software done and it is a fantastic car. My opinion you wont find a E91 320D with low milage with motor plan under R120K

Good luck

My friend sold his 2006 320d Touring with 98k km and motorplan till May next year for R145k about three weeks ago. Had it on Gumtree and here. About a day later the new owner called, drove all the way from Stellenbosch to Hermanus, took it for a test drive and immediately bought it. Was in excellent condition, very well cared for, etc., by enthusiast.

I saw one in DBN with 188000km @R129k.
Its also an Msport but a 325i Auto. These cars are so scarce so even considering a 320D sedan.

The search continues.
