Can get a 2011 X5 with 57K km on the clock for the same price as a 2012 with 87K km on the clock.

Both have same specs except the 2012 model has Sat Nav but the wiring harness was replaced by BMW under MP earlier this year.

Now why would you replace the wiring harness. Water damage?

Very confused. What would you do?

3 reasons to replace a harness

1. Accident damage, but then motorplan wont pay
2. Rodent damage (yes I have seen this) but motorplan wont pay
3. Intermittent electrical fault of a serious nature.

Find out if motorplan paid, or the insurance paid, you would be surprised how many rodents nest inside the X5's, especially if its not used everyday...

Water damage would have seen half a ton control modules replaced as well.

Motorplan will only replace the harness if something else went that caused the damage, such as a catastrophic mechanical failure and a side shaft severed the harness (seen this as well)

Rodents. Had a big rat/mouse chew some wiring off my car which resulted in me having to take off the inlet manifold to get to the sensors to resolder them. My insurance would have paid but wanted me to take the car to a panelbeater to have the wiring fixed?????. Did it myself and did it right. I know it was a rat/mouse cause i saw it staring back at me when i looked for it.:=):

Yup! Can be a rat or mouse , BMW also sells a sort of rodent protection grid for our cars , I Have seen it on an E46 extras catalog for my car , Rodent protection , I think it sort of electrify s the wires giving the rat a shock . Or fried rat .

Take into concideration how many KM you do a year.
Personally, i would take the 2011 with less KM's. Its had a less harder life.

Decided on the 2011.

Now I need to figure out how much they will charge me to extend the motor plan with 2 years.
