Common Problems with 2008 e92 M3 Manual

Thing is, you can get a 335 to be an M3 killer for a lot less than getting an M3. With an M3 there's not too much you can do to improve it, except for going SC.

But then ///M3:rollsmile:

Thanks to the OP for this thread and everyone's very informative comments! I was considering an e92 M3 last year, but landed up with a great e92 335.
I couldn't quite afford the right M3. The ones in my price bracket were the ones that hadn't been loved and cared for like my 335.
I think another reason the M3's get a bad rep is people go and buy the cheapest ones (they cant really afford) and them moan cause things break. Things are breaking only because the previous owner did look after it.
Anyways my car is quick, but it ain't an M, one day........
Again, thanks to all the posts as I found this thread super informative.
:ty::ty::ty::ty::ty::ty::ty:

I landed up doing the exact same thing, I wanted a M3 but it was too expensive at the time so I bought an e92 335i.

Now my car is FBO, and I was hoping the change to an M3 would give me that something different, for now I'm really happy with the performance of my car but it's still not an ///M.

Hahahaha, snap! I'm also FBO and love it, but still looking at M3's on autotrader all the time! Keep telling myself the 335i is as quick or quicker in a straight line, cheaper on fuel, looks almost the same, but then the heart takes over the head and I want an M3. I have really enjoyed the modding to get to FBO, been a great learning experience. Saw a couple of frozen version M3's that I really like, but not mad about the matt black.
To all the M3 owners, keep enjoying and appreciating the beautiful machines you have. One day I hope to join you.

It does come down to what each individual want out of their car. Some want the petrol-head experience of doing the mods and getting their car to be quicker than a M3, and that's great, but then there are also the petrol-heads, who wants to own arguably the most definitive motoring icon to which all cars are measured against. It's not the quickest, but neither is a 325is, but it similarly a sort after piece of kit because of its heritage. Each to their own. The M3 is what it is! Own one and keep smiling. :=):

**Thread revival**

So has any of the advice changed over the last 3-4 years?

I am looking at a E92 or an E46. I Just want to understand whats the pros and cons of both before I start driving either.

Any insight will be helpful:thumbs:

Good clean e46's are in the e92 price bracket already!

If it it were me, I'd take the rumble of the v8, do the bearings and have peace of mine, knowing u own the last of the n/a ///M icons.

I have nothing against the e46... I just think at the age and price point.. I'd rather own the e92

I read this thread, nothing's changed, M cars are awesome, the moral of the story, there are NO cheap M cars, you buy a properly sorted example and will still spend some time and money on it, or buy cheap and spend lots of time and even more money to get it where it should be.....simple as that
