Good day fanatics, my BMW e90 2011 is switching off when cold started, it idles few minutes then shuts off. When I drive on the road it will do the same thing on certain speed bumps but not all of them.
prior to this i got it Diagnosed by some shady mechanic who started off good. Around February the car was struggling to start it stalled or had hard start for 3 seconds. He said the new battery was not registered but he fixed it, the car came back with a oil light on. He also told me the aircon compressor was his real concern which needed rebuilding, I ignored him got my car serviced at ACD and everything was good just that the car started stalling again. I gave it backed to my girlfriend she let it park for 2 weeks, when she started driving again the problem was gone.
Fast forward to June the aircon compressor started making noise so we gave the shady mech the benefit of the doubt and took it back to him. He fixed it and gave me another diagnostics, he then said all the o2 sensors needed to be changed. I was confused because he didn’t pick it up at the first diagnostic, now I ask for a quote he gives me R35 000 quote. I get a quote at BMW dealership just to be sure, they quote me almost half his price R23 000 and Its obvious I am being scammed. Now I want to expose this guy and booked for the 6th S at BMW.
But out of curiosity has anyone ever had this issue because on my list it might be:
Ignition coil
Cam sensor
Idle control valve
o2 sensor
But all the above are listed with an engine light on.
the only one that is like these but with no engine light is a software update.
