Cold start problems

Hey Guys, yesterday and today, my car has what sounds like a miss fire when starting-up. if I drive it for a a few minutes...the 'miss' goes away...no warning lights etc. there is also a strong petrol smell on start-up.....what can be wrong??

I too have a cold start problem problem in the morning, and suffer a few "misfires"... but after the first cup of coffee, its sorted out :rollsmile:

Could be 02 sensors, i suggest having a diagnostics done. You would be surprised how little on your BMW actually causes a warning light...

Could be your coils, i had a similar problem on my Audi. had to replace all six of them and car is running well now. At first it is a missfire problem later your average fuill consumption goes up and then the car starts pulling heavy as it uses less cylinders.

Thanks Gents.....car is booked in....apparently there is also a factory recall etc...i am sure they will sort it out

Cool on the recall they will change HPFP and some if not all of the injectors. Insist they change the plugs as well as it sound more like the latter.
