damper is the most important component in the suspension and where the magic happenseven without a spring change the right damper will make a big difference... unfortunately on the M cars often the shock spring combos cost about the same as decent coilovers... so your choice is not so easy...
If you do go coilovers the lowering rates of the spring kits are a good guideline for what is optimum for the suspension geometry till you get corner weighting done...
