Clutch 320d

Hi guys,

Is there something wrong with my clutch. Bought my 320d in August this year. Manual. Thing is, the clutch is really difficult to get used to. Especially coming from a car that I have always balanced my clutch with my accelerator. On the beemer, I got to leave the clutch almost completely before I start feeding fuel. This makes it difficult when I'm on a steep incline. End up burning the clutch a bit. Any one with the same issue?

Ryan...i know this is sort of way off from your concern...get someone to check the boost pipe/charge pipe for you....just maybe you have the same issue i had on on my 120d...had to balance the clutch perfectly for boost/fuel to kick in or it would just stall. After many replacement parts and the issue persisted. Chargepipe was cracked in many places. Problem solved after that.

But it could also be the clutch itself. Get it to a mechanic.

Its your flywheel get them to replace it

I had the same problem on my 323i I got the car at 5k km's and the clutch was shuddering like crazy already after 5 clutches they finally thought of changing the flywheel and all was good after that

The not releasing part of it could be caused by the clutch being so worped it does not engage propery and is slipping

Just a question how hard do you drive this clutch if BMW take it out and find it abused they will charge you for the repear but you really have to hammer the clutch to do that

Hi drugekull, thanks for the advice. I have to ask BMW to check that for me. I don't ride the clutch hard at all-in fact I'm super careful with it especially after they warned me about lots of people riding the clutches in the 320d's alot.

So here is what you do....

Dont say anything to anybody..

Go to the second hand floor, and take a demo model 320d for a test drive...

See if it is the same as yours.

If not and you sure there is a problem, ask the workshop manager to drive your car, and if he says its normal, beat him with a wet duck.

Book it in, have them fix it, and get a courtesy car...

Hope you get this sorted out!! Does your car have hill assist?

Yep, riding the clutch is one issue, but even sitting with the clutch depressed at the lights is something to avoid as much as possible - release bearing is made of some sort of plastic (of all things). So as painful as it is, I sit in neutral with my foot off the clutch and my hand off the gear lever until I see the lights are about to change.

That's actually a brilliant idea!!

Lol - thanks zaleonardz!! Brilliant - will do that this weekend!
@Philip - i do the same at the robots. Shift to neutral and wait for the green light. Actually no, my car hasn't got hill assist.

Now I'm just going to test drive some second hand cars this weekend:)..I love my 320d..but if it doesnt get sorted - i think im gonna grab an automatic one with these specials they're having...or should I wait for the new one?:)

Any ideas on the prices of the new 320d that's going to be released next year?
