John. will you still be able to run Vins ETC ?

Hi,

Unfortunately when end of September comes BMWSA will turn off all our systems, so in short no but will see if I can get someone else to step up and help everyone out when that day comes, still 5 months before the switch off.

It is all about New vehicle sales.

This is tragic - putting the burden on the dealers when it is a broader economic and market issue. This is particularly worrying in that one of the best dealers in the area from a service perspective is being impacted by what is surely a short sighted decision.

Many are underwater on deals and many more are waiting longer to switch cars. Pricing has become absurd not only for this brand but all others. Golf 7R new pricing is R650K for instance. Hope of having an M-car available under R850K brand new with the M2 didn't quite pan out that way... the people who could afford these cars in the past no longer can. It isn't a relatively small stretch like it used to be to get the newer model. At this point, just staying in the series is a stretch. Try selling the idea of a new car to your wife when your old one is perfectly fine and the new one is likely to be double (literally double) the price.

Not saying things are going to collapse immediately but we are seeing the effects of the residual bubble and in 3 years GFV is going to have its impact as many are out of terms and in similar trouble. There are no more band aids left...

That and the fact the the model layout/numbering is proper confusing.

The 2 series is now a fwd active thing or a rwd m car coupe, or 4 door sedan or coupe.

I like to think the styling is playing a bigger role than everyone cares to admit as well.

Mmmmmm????

Not enough new sales, so let's:
a) Reduce the dealership numbers
b) Look at competitive pricing with the new competitors in mind
c) Improve general after sales service and customer satisfaction
d) Stop putting in ridiculous price increases every few months
e) Make more features standard without huge price hikes

Let's choose (a) because that has the least effect on corporate.......And we will have more to export to take advantage of this weak currency. Win-Win-Lose

I have no idea how the dealerships are expected to sell these new BMW's in the current economic climate.

Bottom line is sales ... And they were looking at new innovative ways of generating more interest in the brand. According to bmw they were not losing sales to like Merc or Audi ...But they mentioned brands like Kia etc

Lastly, looking at "innovative ways" to generate interest in the brand. I really hope and pray that BMW refrain from offering attractive balloon & smoke and mirrors finance deals on the unsuspected public.

Scary enough this was it ... Looking at ways of sprucing those finance deals as she was a financial consultant

I see Harley Davidson has a "special" now where one can purchase a bike for say R1000pm for the 1st 12 months. month 13 premium increases and so forth. End of term, massive balloon payment.

I wonder how long it will be before these type of deals hit the car market?

Don't let this deal fool you.

The bike is the 750 street and is in actual fact, manufactured in India, no kidding.

The quality is actually pretty shoddy at best.

Polaris dropped Victory as well.

I have heard that Harley are going to start opening up their dealerships to 'other' brands.

Strange times ahead for sure.

Hi,

I would have to look into that, I haven't worked on a bike in years. Got some mechanics who own bikes so could be a possibility, what you need done?

Have our own bike mechy who works on mine

However I am sure there would be a market with a few S1000 RR's ut of warranty?

Just a thought?

With your legendary type of service and a few introductions to some other guys in the community - kind of one stop all in shop there?

how does bmw expect to make sales targets when they have a price increase every 3 months ? Rather make prices competitive with the hope of selling more units, and improve after sales service

So did they close down ? I see BMs advertised on Autotrader from Leo Haese Pretoria ?

They are a re-branded service centre (Bosch) and still do the majority of their work on BMW's. They also have other brands for sale now as a sales dealership as well.

There is also a Leo Haese Centurion that might be getting mixed into the confusion.

Leo Haese BMW Hatfield has changed to Leo Haese Bosch, they also have a goldwagen on the premises, car sales continue under Haval and GWM, so there is the sales of used cars ( including BMWs) and new Haval and GWM vehicles.

They have the benefit of BMW experience, brand new bosch equipment( a few months now) and goldwagen parts ( BMW is also available at excellent rates).

NB: I have no affiliation with Leo Hease, but John and team deserve the punt
