So, this has been verified by consumer journalist, Wendy Knowler, as being legitimate.

Obviously, do your own research before making any claim.

This is the story:

"At a Glance:
Owners/lessees of certain VW/Audi diesel vehicles (EA189), originally sold/leased in SA before 22 September 2015.

Potential settlement benefit per eligible vehicle (subject to timely, valid claim).
Submit online via My Claim or follow instructions to submit on paper.

Submit claim and documents by 30 March 2026."

Interesting!

After seeing literal oceans of VW diesels in buy-back yards elsewhere in the world, I just assumed we'd receive the typical 3rd world treatment. i.e. nothing.

Will forward to known qualifiers

Note this is on the 1.6TDI and 2.0TDI EA189 engines.

Sadly, no 3.0TDI so I can't claim for my Macan Diesel:)

When my uncle told me he got a call about this as he owned a Golf 7 2.0TDi years back, I was very skeptical. But yep turns out its legit!
