Chipping a 320d pre facelift

Hi Guys

Please could someone shed some light on whether it is worth while to unichip a 320d pre facelift (2001).

My mechanic said it would not work as it is not common rail and still makes use of a diesel pump.

yes they can be chipped, although it is a LOT more involved than the later common rail models,
also your gains wont be as much, due to the less sofisticated fueling system..

basically the only way to change the mapping is to socket the hi and low page flash memory on the ecu itself, then socket in the revised chips..

still have this set that i never used, pm me if you are interested, but i warn you, whoever installs it needs to know their stuff, soldering surface mount components is not for amateurs..


EDIT : i only now see you are asking about a unichip actually.. no i would not bother with a unichip on that model..

When I was a Chip Logic we bought a pre facelift development car out the box. It made major gains so well worth doing.
