Okay...
The 18 month long diesel leak is finally gone. New high pressure fuel pump is in. Some new pipes and connectors were fitted seeing as some broke whilst the work on the car was done. One rubber pipe was beyond brittle; it was rock hard to the point that we had to break it off the connectors, and it wouldn't even crush when I stood on the thing.
Service done; fan belt replaced as well. Previous one was only on for a year and already cracked to hell and gone. Dunno why. Perhaps the new belt being 5 times the price of the old one explains that...
Now with regards to my previous post of the problems this morning, some good news and some bad news: good news is that the "glow plug DDE" warning light (determined by Nikfoef to be an engine warning light) is no longer prominent after startup, and that the car is now boosting when it should and driving better than it has in a long time.
The bad news is that the warning light will come on as soon as I plant my foot down. The car then also immediately experiences power loss like I had this morning (not exactly full on limp mode but enough to irritate a person). This is then reset back to normal when I switch the car off and on again.
I have also noticed a humming sound coming from around the passenger side footwell area when ignition is on. It has pointed out to me that this might be a damaged in-tank fuel pump or maybe low pressure fuel pump, caused possibly by compensating for the damaged HPFP. Makes sense to me, but how many more pumps do I need to replace after all this?
The engine is also taking ever so slightly longer to fire up now when swinging compared to before. Related to the supposed other half a dozen fuel pumps that might need replacing?
Thoughts?
And last but not least, a massive thumbs up and thanks to Gert from OBDWorx for coming out firstly yesterday to deliver a connector I needed urgently, and again today for the assistance with the diagnostics and input. And to everyone else for all the info and guidance so far. I may seem and act like a foef but I really am highly appreciative and thankful for all the assistance and support.
