Cheapest diesel at the pump?

Not sure if this was the correct place to post.
But thought it best as I'm hoping to catch the attention of people in the greater Cape Town area.

Well with this being my first stride into the BMW arena (for ownership) and my first time owning a diesel vehicle, I thought that it may be helpful to try and establish where diesel can be sought for at the cheapest possible price.

Obviously it's great to get some more mileage because of the fuel.
But I found myself thinking, "Why not try and extend the saving with a cheaper price per litre?"

So the cheapest I could find iirc is @ R7.14 per litre at a Caltex Service Station in Mitchell's Plain at the corner of Highlands Drive and Vanguard Drive.

I've honestly not been proactively looking as yet, just started looking around as I've been driving.

Does anyone here driving a diesel car know of any service stations which compete for their diesel clients?

I thought of truck stops :) but not sure if it's viable or if the quality of fuel is up to scratch...

Dude, I had a 320d and when it comes time to replace injectors (because you have used cheap diesel) you will suddenly know what it feels like to be gutted with a teaspoon. The parts alone now cost R24k.

You should ONLY ever use 50PPM diesel in your car!!!!! That would be either Sasol Cleaner diesel, or BP 50PPM diesel. Cheap diesel is upwards of 1500PPM and not to mention all the other impurities.

Let me give you a quick explanation why, Sulphur is made up of very large particles that when in injected through your nozzles, is much like marbles being shot through a cake sieve with a catty.

This is just advice from someone who paid for injectors to be replaced, use it, dont use it. At the end of the day, goed koop is deur koop.

I also noticed that my 320d ran a hell of a lot better, and further on a tank of proper diesel than the rubbish cheap diesel.

Just a side note, a friend of mine had a Polo TDI sportline, he filled his tank up with caltex diesel and had to replace his fuel filter and drain the tank half way through.

Good thing I only put in R50 then at the time :dropjaw:

There's a SASOL in Ottery I could use, the BP in my area I'm convinced has jippoad their pumps. Been avoiding them like the plague for almost a year now!
Anyway - that's another story all together.

I currently drive out of my way just to fill up with Shell V-Power. My car runs SOOO much better on that than anything else, I just dont get teh same kms as I would using Engen petrol.

Nice thing is that there are 2 Shell stations in the close vacinity to the office, but when I'm at home, there nearest one is about 5kms away.

Ok, but then help me make a final decision or rather an informed one on where to go :) as there are Shell garages in Century City where I work.

So is it Shell, Sasol or BP which would benefit according to your experience?

Sasol ULS diesel or Shell Vpower Diesel, wouldn't put anything else in the X5..

SA Diesel is petty crap as is, you don't wanna put shitty diesel in your ride..

You should throw in a good injector cleaner every couple of tanks aswell, try wynns
