Hi everyone, so haven't had an electrical problem with the car except once 2 years ago when the car went in to limp mode after the TPS though a warning light. It fixed itself the next day and haven't had a days trouble, until today.
For reference the car is a 2008 E90 320i.
So I installed an amp and subs. I connected the new amp using an RCA converter by splicing in to the original BMW amp through an online video. I also connected using the thin black wire for the remote wire. Other than the 4 speaker wires and the 1 thin black wire in the same loom that I spliced in to, the only other cables I touched were the battery positive and negative (used as a ground).
Sound install went well and I have fantastic music playing, except when I turn on the car the the lights come on automatically and cannot be turned off. The indicators, fogs, brights, reverse, park lights, and power windows do not work. The car is also registering the the right passenger door is open, when it is not. That's all I have noticed so far.
From the searching I have done, it all appears like the FRM is stuffed. I just don't see how disconnecting the negative terminal could cause that. I've never touched the battery terminals or tried jumping the car either. Is there anything else I could check? Specific fuses, or how would I try to reset the problem? Did i use the wrong wiring (Don't see how that's possible since the only wires that were touched were speaker feed wires). Anything else I can try and look at.
I have seen a few people on here are able to reset/ refurbish the OEM one? Is there anybody on there who can point me in the right direction and possible a rough quote. R16k++++ for a replacement from BMW is a definite non-possibility.
