CASTROL NO LONGER SELLING OIL TO AUTOZONE, MIDAS?????

Hi all

i went to autozone saturday morning to buy some castrol slx 5w30 LL01 for my e46 318.

they were out of stock, and when i enquired when they'll get stock again, the managers response was as follows:

"Castrol made a decision to no longer sell the oil to us, because people dont take their cars to BMW for service anymore seeing as they can purchase the oil at autozone"

i ended up purchasing catrol 5w40 fully synthetic from midas, because my oil HAD to be changed.

anybody whether above is true???

Dunno, but the Autozone in Voortrekker that I went to also didn't even have the 5W40 Castrol Edge on their system any more...

interesting.. my last service(e39 525) at bmw they put in shell helix ultra... not castrol....

BMW SA doesn't use castrol to service the cars, they use Petro SA syntium 3000, IIRC... This sounds like a fairytale to me.

BMW sells they oil cheaper than Autozone and Midas anyway.

to me the price is not a issue, it's the availability because here's not a dealer where i stay.

I used Castrol products exclusively for 20 years, now I use only Shell (I wonder why).

Meh, I use shell as well, so not really too bothered about this in anyway true or not.
