Hi all

I’m dabbling with the idea of installing / getting a CarPlay unit installed in my F30 320i LCI 2016 , 40th anniversary edition.( out of MP), No navigation, but did ha e connected drive.
Has anyone done this ? If so was it DIY , Or did you manage to get someone to install it.
Not sure where to start, hence I asked if someone has installed this that might know better ie CIC vs NBT.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
It's good to identify your existing system first.
NBT Evo ID6 might be the system you can go for.
It's very pricy.
You might look at something external that can coexist with your system. It will be much cheaper option.

Based on what I lve seen and researched seems I got NBT ID4 system. Has anyone done this ?
Seems there are 2 options.
1. Replace head unit with an android or similar that supports it
2. Install a wireless CarPlay unit that works with the original head unit ie like one with bimmertech

I’ve had this done on an F10 M5. Bought this screen with Apple CarPlay loaded: https://4x4shop.ca/product/bmw-5-se...reen-android-gps-wifi-bt-a2dp-usb-multimedia/

Works like a charm. Retains all features of the stock system together with all steering wheel controls but adds a host of CarPlay features with a better quality screen.  I was concerned about the non OEM look but with the benefit of hindsight, my concern was misplaced

Hi
,
Did you install it yourself or had it installed ?

I had a sound shop do it. There are a few installation videos on YouTube that indicate that the installation is not overly complicated - at least not on the M5. It’s largely plug n play

Yo.

I actually already have this screen but because I was early adopter I have the android 4 version so apps don't work anymore. Was thinking of getting upgrade from AVINUSA. Wanted to check how long the delivery time was?
